Juniors win Junior Matchplay Challenge

Armagh had 2 teams in the Junior Matchplay Challenge yesterday in the Jim Baker stadium - Armagh "Whites" and "Armagh Reds". The "Whites" played great bowls all afternoon and won the event, beating North West in the final, while the much younger Red team gained valuable experience which will stand them in good stead for the future.

The White team had topped their group in the round robin stages beating West Down and Oriel. They then went on to beat Mid Ulster in the semi finals and North West in the final.

The Reds lost out to the much more experienced North West in their first game and then lost to Mid Tyrone. They then played Oriel and West Down in the placing playoffs.

This is a great achievement for all our Juniors. They have been "knocking on the  door" for the last couple of seasons and  have now broken North Wests stranglehold on Junior competitions. There were 4 debutants, one of which was only 7 years old. Congratulations to all the squad.

Next up is the Junior interzone 2 rink competition next Saturday in Shaw's Bridge. Again Armagh have 2 teams entered.
